Ordered Universe research featured as part of this year’s Light Up Poole Festival, the 3rd year for the Festival, and a treat to be back again after last year, which saw Brian Tanner and Giles Gasper presenting Grosseteste on Tides, and the European premiere of two collaborations with The Projection Studio: Horizon and Zenith. This year Giles presented the life and times of Grosseteste, with particular focus on his thinking on light and creation, and colour and the rainbow, as part of the public talks programme and its theme of SPECTRUM. Well attended with a lively audience it was a great opportunity to support the Festival and its growth – last year’s considerable by Libby Bataligia were rewarded with an Outstanding Contribution to Tourism Award from the Best of Dorset Tourism. Amongst the sound and light exhibits this year was Victorian Speed of Life show, developed with the Diseases of Modern Life project for the Being Human Festival 2018. Four very interesting talks from former team members also featured in the talks programme, showing the vital place of academic research in public engagement and education. Thanks in particular to Ross Ashton and Karen Monid for putting together the programme, and to Libby as well for administration of the whole thing. We wish Light Up Poole the best of luck for 2021!
