We are delighted with the new short film of the Ordered Universe team in action at last year’s Being Human, Festival of Humanities. Our ‘Dark Ages to Dark Matter‘ day took the participants through the research experience of encountering Grosseteste, piecing together his chronology, crucially sharing a collaborative reading experience, re-creating some of the experiments he recounts, and overlaying the whole with modern ideas, from science and humanities bases.
The film captures the extremely rewarding nature of the day and the very positive engagement of those attending. Alan Fentiman, who made the film, was wonderful to work with, and we’re also very grateful to AHRC Science in Culture, and particularly Dot Fallon and Professor Barry Smith, for suggesting the idea and making it happen.
Being Human will take place again this year, in November, and was a tremendous initiative with which to be involved. Ordered Universe has its next reading group with the Liberal Arts treatise, at Lincoln, in April.
