Compotus correctorius

The Compotus correctorius was an important and influential text composed by Robert Grosseteste, at some point probably in the first half of the 1220s. Other compotus texts have been attributed to Grosseteste, as the Compotus ecclesiasticus,  attributions which have been gradually removed in modern scholarship. The Compotus correctorius, by contrast remains very definitely by Grosseteste, and is a sophisticated contribution to the genre. The translation provided here was made by Philipp Nothaft, initially in connection to the Ordered Universe collaborative reading of the De sphera in Rome, April 2016, and now as the first part of a planned volume including critical edition with Alfred Lohr. The translation, into English, makes available and accessible this fascinating, detailed and illuminating text. It is presented here in Issue format and as a PDF.
